Happy 30th Birthday Cobblestone!

"It is not very often that children are asked: What do you want to know and what do you want to learn about and what are your questions about the world? We ask those questions and we use those to create a living curriculum that is a response to the children in their class at the moment."

Rose Martin, Director of Cobblestone

A letter upon graduation… [paragraph] I can’t tell you enough how many times I have left this school smiling. Today, I will leave with a smile again, but this time it will be different from all the others. This smile will carry all my memories, and one word on my lips: thank you. Thanks you teachers and other students for teaching me useful life lessons. Some of these lessons were to keep going with things even if the outcome of them looks bad, and to never give up. [paragraph] Today is not a celebration about sixth and seventh grade leaving and how sad we will be without them. No, today is about all those fun and belly-laughing times. How we broke out of our shells and embraced a new environment. Today we celebrate not for a farewell, but to wish us good luck in our lives. We do the same for you all, and as we part from this community today just remember all those fun memories, all those laughs, all those smiles. [paragraph] We are all one: teachers, students, and family. We all do our different parts at this school. Some of us are the teachers, most of us are the learners. Some are writers, readers, and musical. But all of us are the heart, contributing new things. We are all the brain sharing different knowledge. We all are diverse but that’s what makes our school special. Together we move, like a school of fish. We are the waves that go across the ocean. In other words, we are one. [paragraph] But today some of those parts will go, we won’t be whole anymore. But soon those parts will be filled in by other people, because this school takes people in like a baby bird. And as we (the sixth and seventh graders) leave, just please don’t forget all those fun memories, all those laughs, and smiles. In other words, teachers, students and family: Thank You!
