Middle Grades Teacher

I have taught the Middle Grades at Cobblestone since 2007.

I am a graduate of the State University of New York College at Geneseo. At Geneseo, I pursued studies in childhood education, literacy education and English literature and analysis with a focus on social justice. I graduated with certifications in childhood education and literacy education.

I am passionate about teaching and learning. One of my greatest passions is teaching for social justice and change. I especially love teaching about history, because I find that there are many connections to be made between today and yesterday. I always think of history as a giant, complex story, and it is my job to help that story make sense for my students.

It is my belief that the children of Cobblestone will someday be the problem solvers that our world needs, so my goals are to elicit their thirst for knowledge, and to equip them to think critically in a variety of situations.

What I love most about teaching at Cobblestone is that I am able to be a small part of a true community of learners. Everyone in this school, from administration to teachers to students to parents, reflects a love of learning and a curiosity about the world that inspires me daily. Nothing makes my day more than seeing a child make sense of something new or complex. A child who leaves Cobblestone with a passion for learning is the best reward that I could ever hope to receive.
