Admissions

Rolling Admissions Process Steps

Submit Application for admission:
Applications are considered on a rolling basis, in the order they are received.
  1. Families submit the following portions of our application packet directly to Cobblestone:
    • Application for Admission (page 1)
    • Child and Family Background Data (pages 2-7)
    • Nonrefundable $40 fee

  2. Families submit the following portions of our application packet to their child’s current school or daycare provider (not Cobblestone School):
    • Request for Student Records
    • Classroom Teacher Feedback Form

Cobblestone School will notify families when all parts of the application have been received.
Parents are responsible for following up with their child’s current school/daycare to ensure that all required application information has been submitted to Cobblestone School.

    • Families of students with an IESP/IEP must complete the entire process for admissions and enrollment, and have a signed Private-Parochial Parent Consent Form on file with the Rochester City School District, by June 1 for fall enrollment. Note: the Private-Parochial Parent Consent Form must be filed with the City regardless of the student’s School District of Residence.
    • Families interested in Financial Aid should apply by April 30 for fall enrollment. Please see the Financial Aid page of our website for more information.

Application Review:

  • Once Cobblestone receives all required application information, our Admissions Committee reviews the candidate’s records at its next scheduled meeting. The Director or other Admissions Committee member may contact families regarding additional questions or requests for information. After this initial application review, the Admissions Committee selects candidates to continue the admissions process with an assessment/interviews and school visit.

Assessment/Interview & School Visit:

  • Children are scheduled to spend a day visiting in our classrooms. This visit allows our teachers to get to know the student, see if he or she is comfortable participating in Cobblestone’s classrooms, and gives the child firsthand experience of the school’s environment and expectations.
  • 4 and 5 year olds also participate in a developmental assessment with the school’s Director.
  • Children ages 6 and older are interviewed by the teacher of that age group, and participate in literacy and math skill assessments.
Final Decision:
  • After the assessment/interview and visit, our Admission Committee makes a final determination on the application status.
  • When a child is admitted, the parents receive a telephone call, an admission letter, and a contract to review.
  • When a child is not admitted, the parents receive a telephone call to discuss the Admission Committee’s decision.
